Tabouli Grill - Stamford, CT

Here is a lunch review submitted by our good friend BG who decided to go for an ethnic lunch the other day.  I grabbed a menu from this place and noticed it looked good and was very similar to Layla's Falafel.  I looked it up on line and read mixed reviews about it, but BG seems to like it.  Then again, should we trust a man that likes dating women with adventerous tastes?  Based on the pictures I say it looks good also, except the steak sandwich looks like it might be a little dry.  I will check this place out the next time I pick up or drop off my dry cleaning on the weekend.  Until then, we can take BG's word for it.

"I was in the office the other day with Linda's son, Peter the gut, Officer Pergola, Mama Jammmmmmma (aka Carissa Gagne) and the Mini Cadillac - aka John Stofka who is half Cuban. We ventured out to tabouli grill on High Ridge Rd. and it was lovely. Bg had the chicken shnitzel with rice, Mama Jammaa had a trio of pita dips (hummus labna and babaganoush), linda's son had a Greek salad and the other 3 got steak sandwiches. Definitely a good place to bring a date who is a little adventurous with her taste."

BG's Chicken Shnitzel.  Never knew German food was Middle Eastern.

Carissa's trio of dips.

Pepin's Greek Salad, looks similar to what I used to feed my pet rabbit.  Not sure how a grown man can survive on that.

Mexican Day

Today was Mexican Day at the corporate cafeteria.  Options being fajitas or taco salad.  I opted for, and always go with the Taco Salad.  Even when I bring a brown bag lunch, if I see Taco Salad on the menu, the brown bag stays in the fridge and is eaten the next day.  What is even better, the taco salad which was bigger than the Corporate Salad Bar, cost a flat rate of $7.50.  It is offensive to call this montstrosity a salad due to the ratio of deliciousness to lettuce.  This beast I had today consisted of a lettuce base (minimal), grilled chicken, ground beef, fajita style peppers and onions, rice, beans, tomatoes, jalapenos, salsa, guacamole, and sour cream, in a make shift taco shell bowl.  After Indian Buffet Tuesday and Taco Monstrosity Wednesday, it will probably be a wise decision to go to the gym tonight.

Corporate Salad Bar

Offsetting my nutritious breakfast (see Sausage McMuffin with Hash) and to continue with today's theme, Eating Healthy, established by Phil #14, I decided to build my own salad at the corporate cafeteria. My salad tipped the scales at 1.2 lbs and cost me $9.64 which I feel is kind of absurd. The salad included: romaine lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, cucumbers, hard boiled egg whites, peas, jalapenos, crumbled bleu cheese, grilled chicken, those mini orange slices, and balsamic vinaigrette. This wasn't the best salad that I have ever eaten or made, but it did it's job. It filled me up for the time being, and if I get hungry later on I can eat a Granny Smith Apple left over from Friday.
